Mingle 2.0: The Perfection of Agile Collaboration [development/QA/review]

Just when I thought that I’ve nailed my knowledge in test and project tools, something comes around that opens my mind to a whole new way of doing things.

Introducing Mingle 2.0, from the brilliant minds at ThoughtWorks

I have nothing but praise for Mingle 2.0. This tools is incredible, and it’s so simple to use – and perfect for any project manager who wants to bridge the gap of cross project statuses, global team collaboration, and improved project dashboards.

Imagine Microsoft Project made better

With Mingle 2.0, team members, from management, to development, to testing, can view a display of tasks within independent groupings (called Card Wall View) that relate to your area of interest within the project. Team members can update the status of these tasks by simply dragging and dropping the task to the next grouping. For example, if a developer has fixed a bug, the can move the bug from the “In Development” grouping to the “In Test” grouping, and add the appropriate comments.

From there, Mingle 2.0 tracks all of this data for high level metrics to be reported by the project manager. From estimated efforts to actual, the metrics are comprehensive and detailed for any project dashboard, and easy to filter and itemize for the most complex of projects.

The biggest kudo to this tool is the fact that it’s web based, and so-so easy to collaborate with other team members. It’s simple interface is appealing and it even has an API, so that customizations can be made to incorporate your company needs.

The tool is free for 5 users, and it’s pricing structure is reasonably scalable for larger teams.

Now I know exactly what I want for Christmas.
